Circumference of a circle is effective in determining the fencing details of the circle. It helps in determing complete details of the periphery of owner’s land. From this area of plot can be easily calculated. Area can be calculated if circumference is known. From the circumference value first we need to calculate the radius and then with radius we can calculate area. The unit of the circumference is generally m or cm.

Circumference of circle = 2 x pie x r

This can be understood by the detailed examples, which are given below:-

Example 1:- Find the Circumference of circle when diameter is 420 cm.

Solution:- Given the diameter of circle, d is 420 cm.

We know that the radius of circle is (radius is always half of the diameter), r = 420/2  420/2 = 210 cm.

Now circumference of circle = 2 x pie x r

Therefore Circumference of circle, C = 2 x 22/7 x 210

So C = 1320 cm.

Hence the circumference of circle = 1320 cm.

Example 2:- Find the Circumference of circle when diameter is 700 cm.

Solution:- Given the diameter of circle, d is 700 cm.

So the radius of circle is, r = d/2 = 700/2 = 350 cm.

Now circumference of circle = 2 x pie x r

Therefore Circumference of circle, C = 2 x 22/7 x 350

So C = 2200 cm.

Hence the circumference of circle = 2200 cm.
